Before I even got pregnant I loved following Freshly Picked on Instagram and seeing all their stylish colors on the yummiest babies. I mentally bookmarked how cute these little shoes were and couldn’t wait to buy out the entire store.

My grandmother use to take me shopping and would sit down on department store floors to teach me the smell of real leather. To this day it is one of my favorite memories of her.

‘Every child has a story, let our moccasins tell yours’

Freshly Picked’s messages rings true to me and I can’t wait to see what Ryker’s story brings.
Here are some of my favorite moccs here | here | here

It’s my birthday week and to start off the celebration I am excited to giveaway a pair of Freshly Picked Moccasins to one of my readers. Follow me on Instagram @mrsktsmith for details!

Okay y’all I am committing today to staying more regular with blogging for April! I mean it is BIRTHDAY month after all!

*baby steps right?*

I am working hard to find balance in my life with this new role I have as a mother while continuing to teach, workout/train, blog, be a worthy friend & wife. More on all that in another post but can we talk about this DRESS!

Okay spilling the beans – I bought it 4 days before I had Ryker because I needed to get out of the house and Cam took me Black Friday shopping. I remember he didn’t say I word when I grabbed this dress off the rack and proclaimed it would fit and I didn’t need to try it on. Even the salesperson knew better than to comment on how big my 40 week belly was :) Overall, I love the color and it makes me feel like a fun and whimsical mom running around doing mom errands with my not so mom diaper bag (hello gorgeous) but to be 100% honest I ditched the heels and threw on my trusty Birkenstocks!

Happy Tuesday

April.1.2016 || 4 Months

Loves… walks in the stroller, trying to stand, playing airplane & kisses from the puppies!

Hates.. sitting still, his car seat & being held like a baby!

Ryker is currently sleeping through the night but things change day to day so right now we are embracing it ;) He loves rolling from belly to back and it so so close to go from back to belly. He loves being held and we have made it 4 months EBF which warms my heart because we have worked so hard! My favorite time is our dream feed or early morning feed because he is so cuddly. We see more personality each day and love watching Ry grow!

He Lives to Bless Me with His Love

DSC_9089

PC: Kourtney Marie Photography

1 year ago today our lives changed forever. I remember it so well because I had just written a blog post that I was still deciding if I was brave enough to post all about my infertility battle and the miscarriages we had suffered. I was neck deep in nursing school and doing incredibly well but there was one test each month that I continued to fail.

I told Cameron I would only take one test and not put myself through the battle of pretending it was just too early. The happiness and fear enveloped me quickly. I called my doctor, was sent for 8 vials of blood, picked up two prescriptions and planned some creative pinterest worthy way to yet again tell Cam he would be a Dad.

I almost didn’t. I thought about not telling him and getting his hopes up in a half-hearted attempt to protect him but I caved and crafted together some cute poem.

I worked so hard to not let fear take over. I wanted to put all my faith and love and trust in God but I had been here before and it was getting too familiar. For some reason the answer to my prayers was my infertility post.  The response that I got was God’s way of giving me thousands, yes thousands of people’s love and support. I couldn’t count or keep up with the texts, calls, messages, drop ins, and outpouring of love that people provided. It had only been 2 days since we found out but I knew that this time I would be meeting my sweet baby and everything would be just fine.

Motherhood has changed me in so many ways. It challenges the way I look at myself and helps me see others with a more Christ-like love. I have a changed body, not just its appearance or my still quite dark linea nigra, but I know that I have a body that can push past physical limitations that I never believed it could. I think as moms we should take time everyday to love our bodies. It may not be the size someone as deemed appropriate and it may look different than imagined but it has worked, changed, and done more in 9 months (let’s be real 10) than we have ever thought possible. For me, my body serves as a reminder of the sacrifice that I went through for my baby boy to live and the love that I have for him. On this beautiful Easter Sunday, I took time during church today to think of my Redeemer and the greatest sacrifice of love there has ever been. His love and His sacrifice that each and every one of us would live forever. I know He lives because I am reminded daily by the beauty and love that He has brought into my life. Happy Easter!

Diaper Bag: Lily Jade  Elizabeth in Camel | Dress: Banana Republic | Shoes: Vans | Sunnies: Fantas-Eyes

When I first found out that I was pregnant of course I was over the moon with excitement and started making my must have baby list. I will have to do a separate post and tag everything one day :)

I knew I wanted a beautiful bag that I would use over and over again AND that the Mr. wouldn’t mind carrying around. I give you Lily Jade. Forget diaper bag this beauty is a designer bag!

I  first found this bag  and fell in love with the style, THEN I fell in love with the pockets! This beauty is every woman’s dream to help keep that crazy mom-brain organized and clutter free. I have the Elizabeth and I LOVE wearing it as a book bag to keep me hands free and I actually just throw all my stuff from my normal purse in it along with my mama stuff and voila! Plus side is it’s on sale right now… you’re welcome :)

March.1.2016 || 3 Months

Loves… classical music, being outside (yay spring training!), bath/naked time & rolling over!

Hates… loud noises, hiccups & THE CAR!

Ryker started rolling over Feb 4, right after he hit his 2 month mark and it just about broke my heart but at the same time I was so proud of him! He still gets nervous/surprised every time it happens but he is a champ. This month he also got to meet his Pawpaw and Grandmommy which was so sweet to watch. He received his baby blessing, took his first flight to California, and had his first beach trip to the pacific :)

Mommy is more comfortable nursing in public places (thank goodness for covered goods! more on that later) and loves waking up with a smiling baby boy!

Daddy was grateful for a 7 hour sleep on his birthday and loves his Ryker and Daddy time in the hammock!

Puj-y Little Baby

Puj bathDSCN9985-001DSCN9991-001DSCN9994-001Hanging Puj Tub.jpg

Okay naked babies are the cutest thing ever + I LOVE the way Ryker smells after a fresh bath.

The first photo Ryker at 10.5 weeks, happy as can be in his Puj Tub! The rest of the pictures are from his first bath at 11 days and seriously make me cry looking at how little he was. I can’t even handle how fast time is moving. Ryker has loved bath time since the beginning partly because he gets to be naked but mainly because the Puj is so soft and hugs him close.

The Puj makes bath time so so easy. We decided to purchase one of the PhillUp cups to help rinse Ryker off and it is the perfect size! We also bought the Puj Nubs to hang our tub on the shower wall for easy storage.

Madeline’s Box Pacifier Clips

thejpetite-mrsandmrsmith-14thejpetite-mrsandmrsmith-17thejpetite-mrsandmrsmith-19thejpetite-mrsandmrsmith-23Photography: J Petite

Ryker boy is a thumb sucker all the way but he still loves to take his pacifier. Not sure how I got that lucky but having a pacifier clip became a daily necessity. Cam and I were always asking each other where his pacifier was or trying to clean it off because it fell on the floor. I had my eye on Madeline’s Box when I first got pregnant with Ryker and knew that I wanted something that was functional and fashionable.

Seriously, these are a game changer; if you little one takes a binky do yourself a favor and simplify your already crazy mom life. I  love the leather braided clips and Heather, the creative director of Madeline’s Box, has so many different colors and styles to choose from!

Ryker is wearing Sandstone but we also love Royal Blue and I am pretty sure I am going to need Caribbean for Spring! It’s fun to match to his little outfits as a simple, subtle detail :)
